The Government of India will undertake Special Campaign 6 from 2 October to 31 October 2026, with primary emphasis on Swachhata (cleanliness) and reduction of pendency in government activities. The campaign also focuses on effective management of records, efficient utilisation of office space, and scientific disposal of e-waste generated in government offices.
The campaign operates in three distinct phases. During the Preparatory Phase from 15 to 30 September 2026, departments are identifying targets for disposal including pending references from Members of Parliament, State Governments, inter-ministerial references (including Cabinet Notes), references from the PMO, Parliamentary Assurances pending for more than three months, Public Grievances and Appeals. This phase also includes review of files and records, recording and weeding of files, closure of e-files, and identification of scrap and other redundant materials for disposal.
The Implementation Phase from 2 to 31 October 2026 will see offices undertaking cleanliness activities, ensuring scientific disposal of e-waste and other redundant materials, and taking time-bound action for disposal of pending references. Particular emphasis is placed on effective collection, segregation and scientific disposal of e-waste generated in government offices.
The Evaluation Phase from 16 to 30 November 2026 involves assessment and review of work undertaken and outcomes achieved across Ministries and Departments.
The campaign builds on the success of Special Campaign 5, where the Department of Commerce comprehensively reviewed 88,385 physical files and weeded out 46,255 physical files. This exercise resulted in freeing up 36,005 sq. ft. of office space through systematic review and record management. The Department generated approximately ₹70 lakh through disposal of scrap and other redundant materials, while 277 sites were cleaned during the previous campaign.
