Govt Upgrades 2 Lakh Anganwadi Centres, Adds Facial Recognition

Under Mission Poshan 2.0, 2 lakh Anganwadi Centres are being upgraded as Saksham Anganwadis with better infrastructure, with 1,04,403 already upgraded as of March 2026.
A Facial Recognition System in the Poshan Tracker app enables last-mile tracking of Take-Home Ration distribution and prevents leakages via Aadhaar-based beneficiary identification.
Over 10.4 lakh Anganwadi workers have been trained in early childhood education and nutrition under the Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi program.
The Palna Scheme aims to establish 17,000 Anganwadi-cum-Creches, with 3,130 already operational, to support working mothers.
