The Union Environment Minister announced the successful hatching of a Great Indian Bustard chick in Gujarat, the first in a decade, using a novel conservation method.
A captive-bred egg was transported 770 km from Rajasthan to Gujarat and hatched on March 26, marking a milestone for the critically endangered species.
The conservation breeding program now has 73 birds, with plans for rewilding as part of long-term species recovery efforts.
