Inauguration of Rajasthan’s First NRI & Overseas Congress Cell Office
On Saturday, 18 July 2026, Gurjinder Singh Gavy, Chairman of the NRI & Overseas Congress Cell of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (RPCC), officially opened the state’s inaugural NRI & Overseas Congress Cell Office in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. The ceremony was attended by District Congress President Rupinder Singh Kooner, senior Congress leaders Sukhvinder Singh Lalgarhia, Rajender Soni, Kamla Bishnoi, Nawab Khan, as well as office bearers of the Sports Cell, senior Congress workers, social leaders and community members.
The newly established office is designed to provide guidance, assistance and a dedicated platform for Non‑Resident Indians, overseas students and their families. Its mandate includes addressing issues related to education, documentation, community welfare and facilitating coordination with relevant government authorities. Gavy highlighted that thousands of families from the Sri Ganganagar district are living, studying or working abroad, and emphasized the need for timely support for young overseas students and the broader NRI community.
In his remarks, Gavy expressed gratitude to senior party figures for their encouragement, specifically naming Hon. Rahul Gandhi, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Rajasthan PCC President Shri Govind Singh Dotasra, Leader of Opposition Shri Tika Ram Jully, former Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot, Shri Sachin Pilot, Shri Sam Pitroda and Dr. Arathi Krishna. He reiterated that the office will remain dedicated to public service, strengthening engagement with NRIs and overseas students, encouraging youth participation, promoting stronger people‑to‑people connections and supporting initiatives that benefit both the local community and Rajasthan’s global diaspora.
Gavy also noted his additional roles as President of the Indian Overseas Youth Congress – Australia and President of Student Union India – Australia, and mentioned his recent appointment as Global Ambassador by the Ramgarhia Sabha in recognition of his contributions to community service, youth leadership and international engagement.
