The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will convene the 16th Conference of the Central Council of Health and Family Welfare (CCHFW) on June 29, 2026, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The conference will be chaired by Union Health Minister Shri J.P. Nadda and attended by Union Ministers of State for Health and Family Welfare Smt. Anupriya Patel and Shri Prataprao Jadhav, along with Health Ministers from States and Union Territories, Members of Parliament, senior government officials, non-official members, and eminent experts.
The conference aims to strengthen Centre-State collaboration in the health sector through thematic sessions focusing on three key areas: National Health Mission (NHM) – SDG Goals & Priorities, Food & Drug Reforms, and Allied Health Services. These discussions will review ongoing initiatives, share best practices, identify emerging challenges, and chart a coordinated roadmap for improving health outcomes across India.
The Central Council of Health and Family Welfare, constituted under Article 263 of the Constitution of India, serves as the apex advisory body to the Health Ministry. It reviews the implementation of policies and programs relating to medical and public health sectors and recommends measures for effective implementation in partnership with States and Union Territories. The conference represents an important institutional mechanism for fostering cooperative federalism in the health sector, providing a platform for constructive dialogue and policy consultations between the Centre and States/UTs on issues of national importance.
