The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare organized a health check-up camp and 'Samvaad' program for Safai Mitras (sanitation workers) at Kartavya Bhawan-1 on October 27, 2026, as part of Special Campaign 6.0 under the Ministry's Kayakalp activities. The initiatives focused on promoting the health and well-being of sanitation workers while recognizing their contribution to maintaining hygienic workplaces.
Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Shri Prataprao Jadhav visited the health check-up camp and interacted with Safai Mitras, enquiring about their health and well-being while expressing appreciation for their dedicated efforts in maintaining cleanliness. Dr. L.G. Krishna, Director General of Health Services, was also present during the visit. Minister Jadhav additionally conducted a review of the Ministry's office premises to assess cleanliness and hygiene standards.
The health check-up camp provided comprehensive health screening services including Body Mass Index (BMI) assessment based on height and weight, blood pressure measurement, blood sugar testing, and hemoglobin testing. The camp also offered general medicine consultations, basic eye check-ups, and Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) examinations to facilitate early identification of potential health concerns among the sanitation workers.
The 'Samvaad' program acknowledged the important role of Safai Mitras in ensuring clean and hygienic workplaces. Joint Secretary Shri Elangbam Robert Singh interacted with the workers, thanked them for their dedicated service, and emphasized the importance of making cleanliness an integral part of everyday life. The program provided Safai Mitras with an opportunity to share their experiences, feedback, and suggestions.
These initiatives under Special Campaign 6.0 underscored the Ministry's commitment to promoting cleanliness alongside the health, dignity, and well-being of sanitation workers, reinforcing the importance of collective responsibility toward maintaining a clean, healthy, and inclusive working environment.
