The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), Shillong, under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, successfully organized a webinar on July 27, 2026, for awareness and sensitization of the Corporate Mitra Scheme targeting youth, students, MSMEs, professionals, and enterprises of Mizoram. The webinar was conducted as part of the Scheme's Awareness Campaign for the Northeast Region (NER), with Mizoram University, Aizawl facilitating the program and The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) serving as the lead co-host, supported by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
The Corporate Mitra Scheme was announced in the Union Budget 2026-27 with the aim to empower MSMEs, primarily in Tier-2 & 3 cities, by creating a strong support ecosystem through accredited para-professionals called Corporate Mitras. These professionals will provide assistance for non-core business operations including regulatory, compliance, financial, taxation, accounting, and governance-related needs, allowing MSMEs to focus on innovation, expansion, and growth.
For the Northeast region, IICA-Shillong has been designated as the nodal agency for coordination with State Governments and other stakeholders. The scheme offers 200 seats exclusively reserved for Northeast candidates with a 50% fee concession to encourage participation. Registration for the Corporate Mitra Course was launched on July 15, 2026, and remains open until July 31, 2026.
The webinar featured addresses by Sh. Debarun Kalita, Officer on Special Duty for IICA Shillong and Nodal Officer for the Scheme in Northeast, who emphasized the alignment with the Prime Minister's vision for the Northeast as the new engine of India's growth. CMA Manoj Kumar Anand, Vice President of ICMAI, and Prof. Vanlalchhawna, Dean of Mizoram University, also addressed participants, highlighting the scheme's potential impact on Mizoram's economy. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 650 students from premier universities, institutes, colleges, entrepreneurs, and aspiring professionals across Mizoram.
