The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) Shillong, under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, successfully organized a webinar on July 26, 2026, to promote awareness of the Corporate Mitra Scheme among youth, students, MSMEs, and professionals in Arunachal Pradesh. This event was part of the Corporate Mitra Scheme Awareness Campaign for the Northeast Region, conducted in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi University and with support from The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) as lead co-host, along with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) as support co-hosts.
The Corporate Mitra Scheme aims to empower MSMEs, primarily in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, by creating a pool of accredited para-professionals called "Corporate Mitras" who will provide accessible, affordable, and quality compliance and business support services. These services cover regulatory, compliance, financial, taxation, accounting, and governance-related needs, allowing MSMEs to focus on innovation, expansion, and growth while meeting regulatory requirements easily. The scheme supports India's vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 by formalizing and strengthening the MSME sector.
The implementation plan includes an initial pan-India target of 2,000 participants, with 200 spots exclusively reserved for the Northeast Region. Candidates from the Northeast receive a 50% fee concession. IICA Shillong has been designated as the nodal agency for coordinating with state governments and stakeholders in the Northeast for scheme promotion and awareness.
Registration for the Corporate Mitra Course opened on July 15, 2026, and will remain available until July 31, 2026, through the SWAYAM Plus portal. The webinar featured addresses by key officials including Sh. Debarun Kalita, Officer on Special Duty for IICA Shillong, who explained the scheme's development context and its focus on easing compliance burdens for MSMEs. CMA Sh. Chittaranjan Chattopadhyay, President of ICMAI, delivered the keynote address emphasizing skilled workforce development, while CMA Manoj Kumar Anand, Vice President of ICMAI, highlighted the supportive ecosystem created by the scheme. Prof. Rama Chandra Parida from Rajiv Gandhi University encouraged student participation.
The technical session included a comprehensive presentation on scheme objectives and implementation framework by CMA (Dr.) S.K. Gupta from ICMAI, followed by an interactive Q&A session. The webinar attracted over 150 participants including students, faculty members, and aspiring professionals from various institutions across Arunachal Pradesh.
