The Government of India announced the re‑issue of ₹33,000 crore of Government Securities through an underwriting auction scheduled for 1 October 2026. Four securities are offered: 6.20 % GS 2029 (₹9,000 crore), 6.57 % GS 2033 (₹12,000 crore), 7.63 % GS 2056 (₹9,000 crore) and 7.50 % GOI SGrB 2056 (₹3,000 crore). Under the underwriting scheme dated 14 November 2007, each Primary Dealer must meet a Minimum Underwriting Commitment (MUC) and a Minimum Bidding Commitment under the Additional Competitive Underwriting (ACU) auction. The MUC and ACU amounts per Primary Dealer are ₹215 crore for the 6.20 % and 7.63 % securities, ₹286 crore for the 6.57 % security, and ₹72 crore for the 7.50 % GOI SGrB.
Regulatory and Policy Measures
Bids for the ACU auction must be submitted electronically via the RBI’s Core Banking Solution (e‑Kuber) between 09:00 A.M. and 09:30 A.M. on the auction day. The underwriting commission earned by each Primary Dealer will be credited to its current account with the RBI on the day the securities are issued.
The auction employs a multiple‑price method and is intended to facilitate orderly government borrowing while providing liquidity to the debt market.
