India successfully hosted the Tenth BRICS Industry Ministers' Meeting in Jaipur, Rajasthan, on August 6, 2026, under its BRICS Chairship 2026. The meeting, held under the theme 'Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,' brought together Industry Ministers and senior representatives from BRICS member countries to strengthen industrial capabilities and harness technological transformation.
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal emphasized the need for BRICS countries to leverage complementary strengths to build resilient industries, noting that the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR) has evolved into the principal mechanism for this collaboration. Minister of State Shri Jitin Prasada reaffirmed India's commitment to fostering stronger industrial partnerships among BRICS members.
The meeting resulted in the adoption of a Joint Declaration reflecting collective commitment to implement practical cooperation instruments. Key outcomes included the promotion of the Framework on Cooperation in SME Working Group to boost MSME ecosystems, adoption of Terms of Reference and Action Plan for the BRICS Working Group on the Photovoltaic Industry, and finalization of an Action Plan on innovation-led growth by Startups. India proposed the establishment of a BRICS Incubator Network and BRICS Startup Innovation Fund to support innovation-led growth.
The importance of resilient industry-related transport and logistics systems, including GIS-based Infrastructure Planning and City Logistics Planning, was highlighted during the discussions. Member countries shared national perspectives on industrial development policies and reaffirmed the importance of PartNIR as a key platform for practical collaboration, knowledge sharing, and capacity building.
India will also host the 16th BRICS Trade Ministers' Meeting in Jaipur on August 7, 2026, following the Third Meeting of the BRICS Contact Group on Economic and Trade Issues held on August 3-4, 2026, in New Delhi. The Trade Ministers' Meeting will deliberate on strengthening the multilateral trading system, enhancing MSME participation in international trade, fostering resilient global value chains, and facilitating cross-border digitally delivered services.
