Infrastructure Output Growth – July 2026
India’s infrastructure output expanded 5.4% year‑on‑year in July 2026, according to government data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. This represents a modest deceleration from the revised 6.0% growth recorded in June 2026.
The July figure is the second release under a revised series that adopts the 2022‑23 fiscal year as the base period, replacing the earlier 2011‑12 base. The revised series also widens the core sector basket from eight to nine industries by incorporating iron ore.
Sector‑wise performance in July showed cement output increased 13.1% YoY, up from 9.9% in June; steel production grew 2.9% YoY, down from 5.6% in June; electricity generation rose 9.0% YoY, lower than the 11.4% rise in June; and coal production climbed 7.6% YoY, compared with a 1.4% increase in the prior month. The moderation in iron ore and electricity production contributed to the overall slower pace relative to June.
