Minister of Women and Child Development Smt. Annpurna Devi met with a Parliamentary delegation from the Republic of Liberia and members of the Women's Legislative Caucus of Liberia led by Ms. Ellen-Attoh Wreh at GPOA, Block 3, New Delhi. The delegation is visiting India from August 10 to 15, 2026 on a South-South Peer Learning Mission organized with UN Women support and funded by the Governments of India, Brazil and South Africa through the IBSA Fund administered by the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation.
During the meeting, Minister Devi briefed the delegation on India's key initiatives for women-led development, emphasizing India's approach of viewing women as active agents of national development. She highlighted India's legislative, programmatic and institutional commitment to women's empowerment across several areas including women's political representation, gender-responsive governance and budgeting, institutional responses to violence against women, the care economy, and women's leadership in local governance.
Both sides engaged in substantive exchanges on areas of shared interest and expressed commitment to deepening cooperation between the two countries within the framework of South-South cooperation. The meeting concluded with the presentation of a memento to the head of the Liberian delegation followed by a group photograph.
