President Droupadi Murmu conducted the first-ever Indian presidential visit to North Macedonia on July 20-21, 2026, as part of her state visits to Moldova, North Macedonia, and Romania. She was accompanied by Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya, and Members of Parliament Dr. Dinesh Sharma and Vijay Baghel.
During bilateral meetings with North Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, the leaders discussed the full range of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. President Murmu emphasized that economic cooperation represents an extremely important pillar of the India-North Macedonia bilateral relationship, specifically highlighting potential collaboration in IT/ITES, agriculture, food processing, pharmaceuticals, textiles, bio-tech, tourism, hospitality, and film-making.
The President announced India's decision to double the number of Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) training slots for North Macedonia, including courses in Artificial Intelligence. She welcomed North Macedonia's intent to join international initiatives including the International Solar Alliance (ISA), Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), and Global Biofuels Alliance, noting that participation would enable North Macedonia to access global best practices and technical expertise for renewable energy and disaster resilience.
Both leaders reaffirmed the deep and friendly bilateral ties between the two nations, grounded in shared democratic values and mutual respect, and agreed that this visit would further consolidate their multifaceted partnership.
