The Department of Posts has launched the implementation phase of Special Campaign 6, which will run from October 2 to October 31, 2026, across its extensive nationwide network. The campaign focuses on institutionalizing Swachhata (cleanliness), efficient record management, reduction of pendency, and environmentally responsible waste management, with special emphasis on scientific management of e-waste and sustainable utilization of departmental resources.
Building on the outcomes of Special Campaign 5, which covered 1.30 lakh campaign sites, disposed of 100,000 public grievances, reviewed and weeded out 17,352 files and e-files, freed 23,287 square feet of office space, and generated ₹1.02 crore through disposal of scrap and waste material, the new campaign sets specific targets. For Special Campaign 6, the Department aims to resolve 150,000 public grievances and 1,500 appeals while conducting cleanliness campaigns at 135,000 sites across the country.
The Department is adopting a last-mile approach to Swachhata, extending efforts beyond physical cleanliness of Post Office premises to include clean processes, greater efficiency, accountability, and cultural reorientation among personnel. The campaign covers all categories of Post Offices, including rural Branch Post Offices, with the objective of embedding cleanliness and efficient work practices into daily functioning.
As part of modernization efforts, the Department is focusing on renovation and modernisation of Post Office buildings in accordance with a design manual developed with the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. The initiative includes opening N-Gen Post Offices with clean and modern interiors and exteriors, and renovating SPA Post Offices to upgrade existing facilities and promote uniform branding across the postal network.
The Department is also organizing Dak Chaupal initiatives to strengthen citizen engagement, focusing on Digital India, financial inclusion, and Antyodaya with emphasis on last-mile delivery. Citizens are being sensitized about financial services, insurance, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), Payments Bank, e-commerce, export services, and various Government welfare schemes.
Additionally, India Post introduced a Special Cancellation on Swachhata Campaign 2026 on September 17th, spreading the message of "Freedom from waste with everyone's participation" through dispatched mail. The campaign reaffirms the Department's commitment to institutionalizing Swachhata, efficiency, sustainability, and citizen-centric service delivery across its nationwide network.
