India Ranks Third Global Renewable Energy Capacity

India achieved third global rank in renewable energy capacity with 250.52 GW, surpassing Brazil according to IRENA 2026 statistics.
FY 2025-26 saw record 55.3 GW non-fossil capacity addition including 44.61 GW solar and 6.05 GW wind power installations.
Renewables met 51.5% of India's 203 GW electricity demand in July 2025, with non-fossil sources contributing 29.2% to annual generation.
MNRE implemented key policies including GST reduction to 5% on RE devices and launched National Green Hydrogen Mission with ₹19,744 crore outlay.
