Energy Statistics India 2026 Report Release
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has published the 33rd edition of Energy Statistics India 2026, which includes several methodological improvements. The report now incorporates statistics on 'Credit flow to energy-sector', 'International energy scenario', and 'international marine and aviation bunker' data. Additionally, it aligns end-use consuming sectors of all energy commodities with international standards and addresses data gaps on industry-wise consumption of Coal and Electricity.
Key Energy Metrics
India's Total Primary Energy Supply (TPES) during 2024-25 was estimated at 39,055 Petajoules, showing an increase from 37,936 Petajoules in 2023-24, representing a 2.9% year-on-year growth. The Total Renewable Energy Potential as of 31 March 2025 was estimated at 4,704,043 MW, significantly higher than the 2,109,655 MW recorded as of 31 March 2024, indicating a massive 123% increase in assessed renewable potential year-over-year.
Dissemination and Usage
The Energy Statistics India 2026 publication is widely disseminated among users and all line-energy Ministries for policy and infrastructure planning purposes. It is shared with all States and Union Territories to facilitate suitable policy interventions. The publication is also available in the public domain on the Ministry's website for research and analysis by other users and stakeholders.
