Census 2027 is India's first digital enumeration exercise with a ₹11,718.24 crore budget approved by the Union Cabinet.
The census will include caste enumeration following a Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs decision on 30 April 2025.
Data collection will use mobile apps and self-enumeration portal in 16 languages with Critical Information Infrastructure security.
The exercise will employ 31 lakh enumerators and generate approximately 1.02 crore man-days of employment.
