India's Multi-Hazard Early Warning System Cuts Forecast Time 50%

The Multi-Hazard Early Warning Decision Support System (MHEW-DSS) has automated India's weather forecasting, cutting forecast preparation time by 50% and improving accuracy by 30%.
The system provides impact-based warnings to nearly 80% of India's population and has reduced evacuation costs to one-third from 1999 to 2024.
The system generated cost savings of ₹250 crore, eliminated foreign vendor dependence, and saves 23.4 tonnes of paper annually.
