The Nuclear Energy Mission targets 100 GWe of nuclear capacity by 2047 via large reactors and small modular reactors (SMRs) with a two-pronged strategy.
A budget of Rs. 20,000 crore is allocated for SMR development, aiming for five indigenously designed SMRs by 2033.
Nuclear capacity is set to rise from 8,780 MW to 22,380 MW by 2031-32, with generation of 56,681 million units in 2024-25.
