Under the Act East Policy, India spent Rs 6.11 lakh crore on North East infrastructure, exceeding the Rs 6.02 lakh crore allocation from 2014-15 to 2024-25.
National Highways in the North East expanded to 16,207 km, and 46,296 km of rural roads were built under PMGSY at a cost of ₹47,279 crore.
Railway budget for the region increased to Rs 10,440 crore in FY26, funding key projects like the Bhairabi-Sairang (51 km) and Agartala-Akhaura (5 km) lines.
Infrastructure development includes 6,355 gram panchayats service-ready for high-speed internet, 90 UDAN routes, 5,796 MW hydro projects, and 20 national waterways.
