Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, speaking at the Bloomberg Economy Forum 2026 on October 20, 2026, reaffirmed that India's nuclear programme is dedicated solely to peaceful purposes and not warfare, aligning with the vision of Dr. Homi Bhabha. India targets achieving 100 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2047 and net zero emissions by 2070, with nuclear energy expected to provide reliable, clean electricity to meet growing demand, particularly for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data centers. The minister emphasized that AI should be used as a tool across sectors with responsible, human-led application to prevent misuse, and highlighted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, critical and sensitive sectors have been opened to non-government players, expanding private sector participation in technological advancement and national development.
