India's merchandise trade deficit narrowed to $20.98 billion in March, well below the $32.75 billion Reuters forecast.
March exports rose to $38.92 billion from $36.61 billion in February, while imports fell to $59.9 billion from $63.71 billion.
The deficit improved from February’s $27.1 billion, reflecting stronger export growth and weaker import demand.
Analysts note Iran‑war concerns could pressure Gulf exports and raise energy import costs.
