The India-UAE Joint Military Exercise MOUNTAIN GUARDIAN 2026 commenced on October 5, 2026, at the Foreign Training Node in Chaubatia, Uttarakhand. The exercise is scheduled to run from October 5 to October 18, 2026, with the primary aim of enhancing interoperability, mutual understanding, and cooperation between the Indian and UAE armies, specifically focusing on mountain warfare operations. A total of 92 personnel are participating, with equal representation from both armies; the Indian Army contingent is from a Bhairav Battalion, and the UAE Army contingent is from a Mountain Infantry Battalion. Women officers and combatants from both armies are also involved across specialist roles. During the exercise, troops will undertake joint planning, tactical drills, firing practices, establishment of surveillance grids, drone operations, physical endurance training, rock climbing, obstacle training, and integrated field exercises. The training incorporates technology-enabled operations and the exchange of tactics, techniques, and procedures relevant to challenging mountainous terrain. This exercise provides an opportunity for both armies to exchange professional experience, enhance tactical proficiency, and share best practices in operational procedures, thereby strengthening military-to-military cooperation and reinforcing the bonds of friendship and trust between India and the UAE.
