India Urban Female Unemployment Falls to 8.5% in April 2026

MoSPI releases April 2026 PLFS monthly bulletin showing urban female unemployment rate declined to 8.5%, the lowest level since April 2025.
Overall labor force participation rate stood at 55.0% in April 2026, down from 55.4% in March 2026 and 55.6% in April 2025.
Urban worker population ratio remained stable at 46.8% while overall unemployment rate was broadly stable at 5.2% in April 2026.
Survey covered 374,243 persons nationwide with 213,027 from rural areas and 161,216 from urban areas for data collection.
