Indian Railways has approved the construction of a four-lane Road Over Bridge (ROB) to replace Level Crossing No. 53 at Km 62/2-4 on the Udhna-Ukai Songadh section of Western Railway. The total project cost is ₹133.2295 crore, which will be shared equally between Indian Railways (₹66.6147 crore) and the State Government (₹66.6148 crore) on a cost-sharing basis.
The technical specifications include a Railway bridge portion comprising an Open Web Girder with an estimated cost of ₹91.60 crore. The crossing location presents significant design challenges with a 62% skew that increases construction complexity. The viaduct portion will have a total length of 311.58 metres at an estimated cost of ₹19.98 crore, while the Railway Approach portion will extend 524.32 metres with an estimated cost of ₹10.25 crore.
The four-lane ROB is designed to facilitate smoother movement of road traffic while reducing interference with railway operations. This grade-separated infrastructure will support more efficient train operations and contribute to safer railway movement on the Udhna-Ukai Songadh section. The project is expected to benefit passengers through improved operational efficiency and reliability of railway services in the region.
