Indian Railways has approved ₹170 crore for the implementation of Kavach Version 4.0, the indigenous Automatic Train Protection system, on the remaining 712 Route Kilometers (Rkm) of Moradabad Division under Northern Railway. This investment strengthens the division's railway safety infrastructure through deployment of advanced technology designed to enhance operational safety.
The Kavach system provides multiple safety functions including preventing Signal Passing at Danger (SPAD), automatic brake application to avert unsafe situations, train speed control in critical conditions, and significant collision risk reduction. This initiative represents part of Indian Railways' continued efforts to expand Kavach coverage across its network and modernize railway signaling and train protection systems. The approval was announced on September 1, 2026, through the Press Information Bureau.
