Indian Railways has approved a ₹223 crore project for the deployment of Kavach Version 4.0 across 614.75 route kilometers of Varanasi Division (BSB) under North Eastern Railway. This significant investment in indigenous technology aims to strengthen railway safety infrastructure across the identified balance sections of Varanasi Division.
Kavach is an indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system designed to enhance operational safety by preventing Signal Passing at Danger (SPAD), automatically applying brakes when required, and supporting safer train movement through continuous monitoring of train operations. The initiative will contribute to safer and more reliable train operations while supporting Indian Railways' ongoing efforts to expand the deployment of indigenous Kavach technology across its network.
