Iranian crude oil and condensate exports in May 2026 averaged approximately 209,000 barrels per day, falling below 300,000 bpd and marking the lowest level in at least six years.
Export volumes dropped sharply from 1.34 million barrels per day in April 2026 and from nearly 1.9 million barrels per day in March 2026, according to Vortexa shipping data.
The decline is attributed to a U.S. naval blockade that began on 13 April 2026, which has restricted Iranian shipments and contributed to a broader supply shortage in global oil markets.
Iran’s effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz has also reduced exports from regional producers Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates.
