Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the Israeli military is operating with "large forces on the ground" in southern Lebanon and is taking control of strategic areas.
The remarks were made at the opening of a security cabinet meeting, according to an official statement.
This deployment follows the Israeli military’s expansion of ground operations beyond the demarcation line Israel established several kilometres inside Lebanese territory after the April 16 ceasefire with Hezbollah.
The action signals a further escalation in the Israel‑Hezbollah border conflict.
