The Ministry of Jal Shakti has released a total of ₹6,154.96 crore in funding to states during Financial Year 2026-27 for the Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0. This includes ₹5,289.09 crore reimbursed as Central share to 10 states that continued implementation using their own financial resources during the transition period from JJM 1.0 to JJM 2.0. The state-wise reimbursement amounts are: Uttar Pradesh (₹2,711.52 crore), Karnataka (₹795.74 crore), Maharashtra (₹594.44 crore), Rajasthan (₹537.72 crore), Odisha (₹221.44 crore), Kerala (₹144.66 crore), Chhattisgarh (₹149.50 crore), Tamil Nadu (₹96.52 crore), Andhra Pradesh (₹23.25 crore), and Madhya Pradesh (₹14.10 crore).
Additionally, ₹865.87 crore has been released through the SNA SPARSH platform across 13 states, with major allocations to Assam (₹669.92 crore), Uttar Pradesh (₹90.98 crore), Karnataka (₹47.30 crore), West Bengal (₹30.45 crore), and Andhra Pradesh (₹10.58 crore). Smaller amounts were released to Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Jharkhand, and Tamil Nadu.
The Union Cabinet approved Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 on March 10, 2026, with a total outlay of ₹8.69 lakh crore including Central assistance of ₹3.59 lakh crore, extending the mission until December 2028. JJM 2.0 marks a strategic shift from infrastructure creation to assured service delivery through strengthened Gram Panchayat-led operation and maintenance, source sustainability, water quality surveillance, community ownership, and digital governance. Key reforms include scheme-based payment through SNA SPARSH platform, Jal Arpan (formal handover to Gram Panchayats), Sujalam Bharat IDs for assets, geo-tagging on PM Gati Shakti platform, and community-led assessment through Jal Seva Aankalan.
Union Minister of Jal Shakti Shri C.R. Patil is conducting state-specific interaction meetings with Members of Parliament to strengthen field-level implementation and resolve constituency-specific issues. Meetings have already been held with MPs from Chhattisgarh (July 27), Gujarat (July 29), Odisha (July 30), and West Bengal (August 5), with upcoming meetings scheduled for Haryana (August 6), Uttar Pradesh (August 10), Madhya Pradesh (August 11), and Maharashtra (August 12).
