The Ministry of Jal Shakti has implemented numerous digital technology initiatives for comprehensive water resources management and monitoring across India. The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) has adopted digital technologies for river basin planning, monitoring, project management, and decision support through multiple platforms: Ganga Pulse monitors Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) performance via Online Continuous Effluent Monitoring Systems (OCEMS) and manual reporting; Drain Dashboard is a GIS-enabled platform for real-time monitoring of drains, sewage outfalls, industrial discharges, and STP outlets entering the Ganga basin; Ganga Knowledge Portal (www.gyanganga.ai) serves as an AI-enabled knowledge repository for research publications, technical reports, river maps, and datasets; Ganga District Performance Monitoring System (GDPMS) monitors District Ganga Committees' performance including meetings and key performance indicators; Project Monitoring Tool (PMT) provides real-time monitoring of project implementation, progress, and status across the Ganga basin; and Geo-PRAYAG integrates satellite imagery, LiDAR, drone, hydrological, and geospatial datasets for river basin planning.

NMCG developed PRAYAG (Platform for Real-time Analysis of Yamuna, Ganga and their Tributaries) as an integrated digital platform that combines multiple systems including Ganga Pulse, PMT, GDPMS, Geo-PRAYAG, and CCTV-based STP monitoring. The platform integrates hydrological, satellite, and field datasets for real-time monitoring, GIS-based visualization, dashboard analytics, and evidence-based decision-making for river basin management, creating a unified digital ecosystem for monitoring river health and pollution abatement under the Namami Gange Programme.

The Central Water Commission (CWC) has developed digital platforms including the Reservoir Storage Monitoring System (RSMS) Portal for monitoring live storage capacity of reservoirs, Project Appraisal Management System (e-PAMS) for online project proposal submission, Flood Forecasting System through online portals (https://ffs.india-water.gov.in/ and https://aff.india-water.gov.in/), Flood Watch India application for real-time flood tracking and early warnings, and the C-FLOOD web-based Inundation Forecasting System.

Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) employs advanced digital technologies including Automatic Digital Water Level Recorders (DWLRs) with telemetry installed across the country for continuous groundwater monitoring, IoT-based sensors, GIS tools, and real-time monitoring systems. CGWB operates GRASP (Groundwater Resources Assessment for Strategic Planning) for database management and analysis, India Groundwater Resource Estimation System (IN-GRES) for groundwater resources estimation and visualization, and Bhu-Neer portal for online processing of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) applications.

National Institute of Hydrology (NIH) developed KISAN SATHI/KISAN MAITRI Mobile application for irrigation management providing information on water availability in reservoirs, crop demand, and deficits in Water User Associations, along with NIH-DHAARA (Design Hydrology and Advanced Rainfall Analysis) for Design Flood Hydrology and Rainfall Analysis.

The National Water Informatics Centre (NWIC) facilitates collection, storage, analysis, and dissemination of water resources data. The Government of India has modernized surface water and groundwater monitoring networks through telemetry systems and GIS-based tools. Jal Shakti–Data Management System (https://jalshakti-data.gov.in) serves as a unified digital platform for visualization and analysis of water data from various Central and State agencies. India-WRIS (Water Resources Information System) provides a web-enabled GIS-based platform as a single-window system for accessing, visualizing, and analyzing water resources data.

Under the Irrigation Census Scheme, NIC developed a unified digital platform for digital data collection through mobile application, data validation, and monitoring with real-time progress dashboard. The Hydrology Project established a comprehensive Hydrological Information System for scientifically verified hydrological records. Bharat WIN Portal (https://bharatwin.mowr.gov.in/) is operationalized to accelerate development and deployment of innovative water technologies.
