Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, and Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Jitin Prasada, undertook an official visit to Poland on November 2–3, 2026. The visit was aimed at strengthening bilateral trade, investment, and technology cooperation and followed the recent visit of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk to India the previous month. The Minister was accompanied by a business delegation comprising 12 Indian companies, reflecting the growing momentum in bilateral engagement and the strengthening of the India–Poland Strategic Partnership established in 2024.
During the visit, Shri Prasada held a series of high-level meetings with Polish officials. His discussion with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski focused on expanding cooperation in emerging technologies, specifically Artificial Intelligence (AI), semiconductors, data centres, and cybersecurity. In a meeting with Secretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ignacy Niemczycki, extensive discussions were held on the opportunities expected from the India–European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which is slated to come into effect in the coming months. The Minister emphasised potential cooperation in agri-tech and food processing and called for creating more opportunities for small and medium enterprises.
A meeting with Deputy Minister for Economic Development and Technology Michal Baranowski covered avenues for expanding cooperation in critical minerals, semiconductors, and start-up partnerships. Shri Prasada highlighted the opportunities offered by the Make in India initiative and stressed the importance of co-development and co-production supported by technology transfer.
On November 3, the Minister delivered the opening address at the India–Poland Business Forum held at the Polish National Chamber of Commerce (KIG) in Warsaw. He called upon Indian and Polish companies to unlock the full potential of bilateral trade and investment through new business opportunities, stronger partnerships, and enhanced economic cooperation. He specifically encouraged businesses to leverage the impending India–EU FTA to expand market access and strengthen ties.
The visit also included interactions with the Indian business community in Poland and meetings with potential Polish investors to explore opportunities for attracting greater investment into India. As part of industry engagements, the Minister visited Transition Technologies, a Polish IT and software engineering company, and WB Electronics, a Polish defence company, both of which have existing business interests in India.
The visit served to reaffirm India’s commitment to strengthening its economic partnership with Poland and to building resilient global supply chains. It also aimed to deepen the broader India-EU strategic partnership.
