Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Shri Kiren Rijiju presided over the prize distribution function of the 27th National Youth Parliament Competition, 2025-26 for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas on September 10, 2026. The event was held at GMC Balayogi Auditorium, Parliament Library Building, Parliament House Complex, New Delhi.
PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Ukhrul-1, Manipur (Shillong Region) was declared the national winner and received the "Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru Running Parliamentary Shield" and trophy. Seven regional winners were also recognized: PM Shri JNV Kollam, Kerala (Hyderabad Region); PM Shri JNV Theog, Shimla (Chandigarh Region); PM Shri JNV Suratgarh, Sriganganagar (Jaipur Region); PM Shri JNV Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh (Bhopal Region); PM Shri JNV Valsad, Gujarat (Pune Region); PM Shri JNV Purulia, West Bengal (Patna Region); and PM Shri JNV Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand (Lucknow Region).
The competition involved 100 Vidyalayas spread across 8 regions of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti throughout India. Minister Rijiju emphasized the importance of Parliament as a symbol of democracy and stated that parliamentary democracy is best suited for India. He appreciated the work culture of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in molding student character.
Secretary of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs Shri Nikunja Bihari Dhal and Additional Secretary Dr. Satya Prakash also addressed the gathering, highlighting the program's role in student personality development, critical thinking, and teamwork skills. The Ministry has been organizing this competition for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas for the past 30 years, providing a platform for young minds to learn parliamentary procedures and develop leadership qualities.
