Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal launched the Fresh Application Module on the existing Notary Portal for online applications for appointment as Notary Public under the Notaries Act, 1952 and Notaries Rules, 1956. The module enables eligible legal practitioners and advocates to submit applications digitally through the Notary Portal, developed by the Department of Legal Affairs in association with the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
The module is designed to make the application process more transparent, efficient, and citizen-friendly, featuring automated workflows and a user-friendly interface to ensure smooth processing of applications. According to Dr. Rajiv Mani, Secretary of the Department of Legal Affairs & Legislative Department, the module has been seamlessly integrated with the existing portal that already offers various online services relating to notary appointments.
Minister Meghwal stated that this initiative marks a significant step toward realizing the Digital India vision by promoting a paperless, transparent, and citizen-centric system of governance. The Department of Legal Affairs will invite applications through the module from time to time based on requirements under the Notaries Act and Rules, with detailed instructions and guidelines to be made available on the Notary Portal.
