The Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law and Justice, organized an awareness workshop on 'E-waste Management' on 28 September 2026 at Kartavya Bhavan-2, New Delhi, as part of Special Campaign 6 and Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 initiatives. The workshop was attended by Dr. Rajiv Mani, Secretary of the Department of Legal Affairs, along with officers and officials of the department, with the objective of sensitizing participants about responsible management of electronic waste and encouraging environmentally sustainable practices in daily life and workplace.
Dr. Rajiv Mani addressed the participants, highlighting the importance of responsible e-waste management and emphasizing the need for greater awareness regarding proper handling and disposal of electronic waste. He stressed the significance of adopting sustainable practices and collective responsibility to minimize the adverse environmental impact of e-waste. The workshop provided practical information on various aspects of e-waste management, including proper segregation, safe collection, responsible disposal, and recycling of electronic items.
Participants were sensitized to the 3R approach—Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle—which encourages reducing e-waste generation, reusing electronic products where feasible, and ensuring recycling through appropriate channels. The session also highlighted the importance of responsible disposal of discarded electronic devices and components while creating awareness about the environmental benefits of adopting sustainable consumption and waste-management practices. This awareness initiative forms part of the Department's efforts under Special Campaign 6 and Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 to promote cleanliness, sustainability, and responsible waste management, reinforcing that effective e-waste management requires active participation and awareness at both individual and institutional levels.
