Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya launched the Physical Education Professionals' Module on the National Sports Repository System (NSRS), a centralized digital platform for maintaining a unified repository of Indian sports ecosystem stakeholders. The minister emphasized the critical role of physical education teachers in identifying and nurturing sporting talent at grassroots levels, calling for the creation of a comprehensive nationwide repository of PE teachers within a six-month timeframe.

Dr. Mandaviya highlighted that PE teachers in schools and colleges are among the first to identify sporting talent among children and youth, and stressed the importance of mapping their qualifications, skills, and expertise for effective utilization and development. He called for a Physical Education Teachers' Association campaign at the district level along with registration and creation of a structured repository at district, state, and national levels.

The minister directed that the entire repository should be created within six months, with progress to be reviewed in a time-bound manner, stating that the initiative should be taken forward as a mission to develop sports in the country rather than merely as a module launch. The repository will help map PE teachers' capabilities and specializations and create opportunities for those with special talents to gain exposure at national and international levels.

The launch event was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Sports Authority of India (SAI), Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE), Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education (LNCPE), Physical Education Foundation of India (PEFI), and other key stakeholders.
