MCA Hosts PMIS Industry Awards to Recognize Internship Program Partners

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) organized the PMIS Industry Awards on August 14, 2026, in New Delhi as part of Independence Day celebrations to honor partner companies for their contribution to the successful implementation of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) during its pilot phase. The event was chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and attended by senior ministry officials, industry representatives, and over 100 current and former PMIS interns from across the country.

The awards recognized organizations that demonstrated exceptional commitment to nurturing young talent, creating high-quality internship opportunities, adopting effective internship management practices, and supporting the government's vision of building a future-ready workforce. Mahindra & Mahindra Limited was recognized as the Overall Industry Champion for its leadership and exemplary contribution to promoting internships and youth engagement under PMIS.

Industry representatives shared positive experiences, with Mahindra & Mahindra noting they welcomed 1,000 interns across their group—nearly five times the number from Round II—demonstrating the scheme's evolution into a program operating at scale. IBM highlighted how interns' fresh perspectives, curiosity, and willingness to learn enriched teams and supported innovation. Dr. Reddy's Laboratories shared an example where an intern used the PMIS certificate to secure admission to Long Island University, Brooklyn, reflecting the scheme's potential to support higher education and long-term career growth. Western Coalfields Limited appreciated how PMIS helped attract young talent to collieries in rural and semi-urban areas of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, addressing traditional recruitment challenges in these locations.
