The Ministry of Home Affairs provided a comprehensive update on India's narcotics control measures and seizure statistics for 2020-2025. The government has released a Vision Document on Narcotics Control (2026-2029) that establishes a 3-year roadmap with clear priorities and time-bound targets using a 'Whole-of-Government' and 'Whole-of-Society' approach.

Enforcement efforts under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 have been coordinated through a 4-tier Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) mechanism and an NCORD portal developed by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for information sharing. A Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) with DG, NCB as chairman has been established to monitor significant drug cases, conducting 11 central and 75 state-level meetings. NCB regularly coordinates with Excise, Border Security Force, and State ANTF for joint operations and conducts specialized training programs with US-DEA on clandestine laboratory investigations.

International cooperation has been strengthened through bilateral agreements with 27 countries and MoUs with 19 countries, with regular DG-level talks held with Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Singapore, and USA.

Seizure data from NCRB shows total narcotics substances seized reached 942,571 kg in 2024, comprising 369,696 kg opium-based drugs, 537,675 kg cannabis-based drugs, 1,317 kg cocaine, 7,101 kg psychotropic substances, and 4,589 kg medicinal preparations. The 2024 data also includes 27,384,433 cannabis plants and 478,405 poppy plants seized.

Maritime route seizures reported by NCB show significant variations: 2021 (4,546 kg), 2022 (3,272 kg), 2023 (2,909 kg), 2024 (10,564 kg), and 2025 (391 kg). The 2024 maritime seizures were dominated by methamphetamine (6,818 kg), charas (3,187 kg), and included 9,419,000 tablets and 1,000 injections. The 2025 maritime seizures comprised 306 kg amphetamine, 53 kg ganja, 30 kg hashish oil, and 1 kg charas.
