The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has implemented the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) for tribal development in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Shri Durgadas Uikey informed Lok Sabha that 156 villages across 7 blocks have been identified for development under this scheme.
Chamba District has two Integrated Tribal Development Projects (ITDPs) - ITDP Bharmour and ITDP Pangi. Under DAJGUA, 30 villages in ITDP Bharmour and 48 villages in ITDP Pangi have been selected for coverage. The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has approved projects amounting to ₹551.11 lakh for ITDP Bharmour and ₹851.00 lakh for ITDP Pangi under its interventions.
The detailed breakdown of approved funds includes: Construction of Classroom in Tribal Schools (₹280 lakh for 2 units), Construction of Hostel Building (₹275 lakh for 1 unit), Construction of Toilet Blocks (₹131 lakh for 13 units), Hostel, Ashrams & School Repair (₹716.11 lakh for 62 units), Tribal Multi-Purpose Marketing Centre (₹200 lakh for 2 units), and FRA (₹8.67 lakh for 1 unit).
Year-wise fund releases show no funds were released in 2023-24 and 2024-25, while ₹708.44 lakh was released in 2025-26 and ₹381.88 lakh in 2026-27, making a total release of ₹1,090.32 lakh under the DAJGUA scheme.
