The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has expanded the Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls (NAVYA) programme to 100 aspirational districts across India effective from May 27, 2026. As of June 30, 2026, the programme has trained 1,060 girls from 15 States/UTs, with Madhya Pradesh leading at 168 trainees, followed by Jammu and Kashmir (137), Bihar (112), and Uttar Pradesh (107). Other states include Gujarat (95), Maharashtra (92), Punjab (99), Andhra Pradesh (41), Himachal Pradesh (40), Odisha (48), Chhattisgarh (30), Jharkhand (28), Karnataka (21), Haryana (34), and Rajasthan (8).
The NAVYA programme operates under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0 (PMKVY 4.0) framework and focuses on providing industry-relevant skill courses with embedded On-the-Job Training (OJT). The programme emphasizes futuristic job roles and includes a mandatory Holistic Development Module covering digital literacy, financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship orientation to enhance employability and economic participation of adolescent girls.
The government monitors programme implementation through a robust framework utilizing the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) for real-time tracking of beneficiary registration, attendance, training progress, certification, and other key performance indicators. Regular review meetings are conducted with Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs), State Skill Development Missions (SSDMs), and other stakeholders to assess progress and address implementation issues. The Ministry has advised SSDMs to facilitate placement and apprenticeship opportunities for certified candidates through industry linkages and employer outreach.
