The Ministry of Women and Child Development has introduced the 'Poshan Tracker' application as an ICT-based governance tool to digitally review the progress of Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0. The application provides monitoring and review facilities for all services delivered to beneficiaries at Anganwadi Centres and their homes, enabling continuous implementation review and course correction by the Ministry, States, and UTs.
An outcome-based evaluation study conducted by Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO), NITI Aayog in 2025 found that digitalization through the Poshan Tracker Application has multi-dimensional impact on nutrition monitoring, Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), beneficiary authentication, and service delivery efficiency. The report highlighted the application as a significant shift from manual, paper-based systems to a technology-enabled governance framework under the Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP), describing it as the cornerstone for digital monitoring of beneficiaries, inventory, and service delivery at Anganwadi Centres. The expansion represents a foundational shift in governance enabling greater responsiveness, efficiency, and transparency in SNP's last-mile delivery.
The application addresses network-related issues through offline functionality for conducting e-KYC and face matching under the Facial Recognition System (FRS) for distribution of Take-Home Ration (THR). OTP for e-KYC and Aadhar face matching needs to be taken only once in the entire lifecycle of a beneficiary, with data entered in offline mode having a 5-day sync provision once network restores.
The Ministry provides continuous training and handholding support to Anganwadi Workers through multiple mechanisms: learning videos and awareness documents available in the Resource section of the application; training under the Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi initiative using a cascading model where Master Trainers (District Officers, Block Coordinators and Supervisors) train Anganwadi Workers on different modules including Facial Recognition System, Geo-Tagging, and Home Visit Scheduler; and daily Virtual Classroom Sessions organized by Digital India Corporation from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM for operational queries and 4:15 PM to 5:15 PM for State officials to resolve implementation issues and provide training on new functionalities.
