The Ministry of Women and Child Development has implemented the 'Poshan Tracker' digital application as a governance tool for real-time monitoring and tracking of all Anganwadi Centres (AWCs), Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), and beneficiaries under Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0. The application enables near real-time data collection for Anganwadi Services including opening of AWCs, daily attendance of children, ECCE activities, growth monitoring of children, provision of Hot Cooked Meal (HCM) and Take-Home Ration (THR), and growth measurement.
This universal umbrella scheme has no entry barriers for any beneficiary willing to undergo e-KYC procedure for Facial Recognition System (FRS). The Aadhaar-based tracking has enabled proper identification of beneficiaries, prevention of leakages, and elimination of ghost entries, with 99.88% of registered beneficiaries being Aadhaar verified. The Ministry has developed Facial Recognition System (FRS) in the Poshan Tracker Application for distribution of Take-Home Ration to ensure benefits reach only intended beneficiaries.
A Nominee Module has been introduced to ensure uninterrupted delivery of Take-Home Ration. If a registered beneficiary cannot visit the Anganwadi Centre, she can choose a nominee who undergoes e-KYC once but requires face matching every time when receiving THR on behalf of the beneficiary.
The Ministry releases funds to all States and UTs for procurement of Smart Phones for Anganwadi Workers, Lady Supervisors, and Block Coordinators for registration, data entry, tracking, and monitoring. Funds are also provided for Growth Monitoring Devices including Infantometer, Stadiometer, Weighing Scale-Infant, and Weighing Scale-Mother & Child. The Central Government provides ₹10,000 + GST per Smart phone and ₹8,000 for a set of 4 GMDs on a cost-sharing basis.
Outcome-based assessment and continuous monitoring are conducted through system-generated analytics to evaluate digitalization impact on nutrition monitoring, ECCE delivery, beneficiary verification, and service efficiency. Digital learning support has been strengthened by integrating ECCE content aligned with Navchetana and Aadharshila frameworks, including 249 ECCE videos, 190 audio messages, and over 130 activity-based learning resources. For children aged 0-3 years, 140 home-based activities through 14 videos have been developed to support structured home visits and promote caregiver engagement.
An outcome-based evaluation study conducted by Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO), NITI Aayog in 2025 found that digitalization through Poshan Tracker Application has multi-dimensional impact on nutrition monitoring, Early Childhood Care and Education, beneficiary authentication, and service delivery efficiency. The report highlighted Poshan Tracker as a significant shift from manual, paper-based systems to technology-enabled governance framework under the Supplementary Nutrition Programme, becoming the cornerstone for digital monitoring of beneficiaries, inventory, and service delivery at Anganwadi Centres.
