The Office of the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) has initiated a three-month Special Drive running from June 1, 2026, to August 31, 2026, aimed at expediting the disposal of long-pending industrial dispute cases and various statutory claim cases. These cases include disputes relating to wages, gratuity, maternity benefits, and other statutory claims that have been accumulating in the system.

As of the commencement date of June 1, 2026, field offices reported a significant backlog of 16,033 pending cases. The drive has shown initial progress, with 2,769 cases successfully disposed of during the first month of implementation. This initiative represents a focused governmental effort to address administrative delays in labor dispute resolution.

The information regarding this special drive was formally communicated by the Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment, Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, through a written reply presented in the Lok Sabha on July 27, 2026. The drive is being conducted under the banner of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,' indicating its connection to broader national celebration initiatives.
