The Ministry of Ayush has invited citizens across India to participate in the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 celebrations scheduled for June 21, 2026. Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Ayush and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, announced that the main event will be held at the historic Red Road in Kolkata under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, where the entire nation will practice the Common Yoga Protocol.
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), under the Ministry of Culture, is organizing special IDY 2026 celebrations at 100 iconic locations across 23 States and Union Territories, connecting India's rich cultural heritage and historic monuments with the ancient tradition of yoga. The celebrations span numerous heritage sites including Lepakshi in Andhra Pradesh, Charaideo in Assam, Nalanda in Bihar, Humayun's Tomb and Red Fort in Delhi, Rani ki Vav in Gujarat, Hampi in Karnataka, Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh, Elephanta in Maharashtra, Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu, Ayodhya and Agra in Uttar Pradesh, among many others.
In Delhi, special IDY celebrations are being organized across 40 prominent public locations to bring yoga closer to citizens. Designated venues include major parks such as Lodhi Garden, Palika Park, and Sanjay Lake Park; sports complexes including Yamuna Sports Complex, Siri Fort Sports Complex, and Dwarka Sports Complex; heritage sites like Lal Quila (Red Fort) and Qila Rai Pithora; and community spaces including Lawn of Shantipath, Baansera at Sarai Kale Khan, and Kartavya Path.
The Ministry of Ayush calls upon citizens, organizations, institutions, and communities to join the celebrations, reach their nearest yoga venue on time, and practice the Common Yoga Protocol together. Citizens are encouraged to arrive early and participate with enthusiasm to become part of this historic celebration that reflects the spirit of Jan Bhagidari and India's commitment to promoting yoga's message of health, harmony, and well-being globally.
