The month-long initiative prioritizes workplace modernization, optimal office space utilization, accelerated digitalization, and scrap disposal as part of the national vision of converting 'waste into wealth'.
During the preparatory phase, officials including Smt. Chetna Shukla (DDG) and Shri Robin Gangte (DS) reviewed the record room at Lok Nayak Bhavan on September 23, 2026, focusing on systematic categorization of files and identification of outdated or redundant records for weeding out. Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) has already conducted Nukkad Natak (street plays) at its headquarters in Nagpur on September 22, 2026, to spread awareness about responsible e-waste management.
The Ministry, along with its CPSEs, CCO, and CMPFO, is actively identifying sites for cleanliness drives and addressing pending references, grievances, and appeals. As of September 24, 2026, significant targets have been identified: 1,462 sites to clean, 1.21 crore square feet of area to be cleared, 10,713 metric tons of scrap to be disposed of, 10,189 physical files to review, and 75,382 e-files to review. The preparatory phase continues until September 30, 2026, with these numbers expected to rise further. The campaign aims to foster clean, sustainable, and citizen-centric governance while reinforcing robust institutional mechanisms and operational efficiency.
