A student delegation from Bihar visited Punjab from June 10-13, 2026, as part of the Yuva Sangam Phase VI programme organized by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative. The delegation was led by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna and hosted by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar.
On June 10, 2026, the delegation met with Punjab Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria at Lok Bhavan in Chandigarh. During the interaction, the Governor encouraged participants to embrace India's cultural diversity, contribute to nation-building, and strengthen national unity. He emphasized the importance of youth participation in shaping the country's future and fostering inter-regional harmony.
The delegation visited several cultural and historical sites including Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh, the Harappan archaeological site at Ropar (Rupnagar) along the Sutlej River, and the ancestral house of Bhagat Singh. They also explored Chandigarh's Sector 17 Plaza and other urban landmarks to study urban planning principles and sustainable development approaches.
The Yuva Sangam program involves 22 paired States and Union Territories and aims to foster national integration by providing youth with opportunities to engage with India's diverse cultural traditions, educational institutions, and developmental initiatives.
