Ministry of Heavy Industries Scheme Performance Update
As of 10 July 2026, the PM-eBus Sewa – Payment Security Mechanism (PSM) Scheme covers 27,555 electric buses against a total target of 38,000 e-buses nationwide. The coverage includes 10,000 e-buses under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs' PM-eBus Sewa Scheme, 14,000 e-buses under the Ministry of Heavy Industries' PM E-DRIVE Scheme, and 3,555 e-buses through various State Government and State Transport Undertaking initiatives. Actual deployment under the PM-eBus Sewa–PSM Scheme has reached 523 e-buses across the country. Notably, Odisha has been allocated 400 e-buses under the MoHUA scheme but had zero deployments as of 3 August 2026.
The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Automobile and Auto Component Industry, approved on 23 September 2021 with a budgetary outlay of ₹25,938 crore, has achieved significant cumulative results through 31 March 2026. The scheme has generated investments worth ₹44,326 crore, incremental sales of ₹52,414 crore (against base year FY2019-20), created 67,820 jobs, and disbursed incentives totaling ₹2,386.36 crore.
While the FAME India Scheme Phase II concluded on 31 March 2024 with no FAME-III scheme currently implemented, the PM E-DRIVE Scheme continues to provide electric vehicle incentives. Notified on 24 September 2024, the scheme has a total outlay of ₹10,900 crore aimed at accelerating electric vehicle adoption.
Under the Scheme for Enhancement of Competitiveness in the Indian Capital Goods Sector, the Ministry has established four SAMARTH Centres to promote Industry 4.0: Centre for Industry 4.0 (C4i4) Lab Pune; IITD-AIA Foundation for Smart Manufacturing at IIT Delhi; I-4.0 India @ IISc, Bengaluru; and Smart Manufacturing Demo & Development Cell at CMTI, Bengaluru. Since January 2023, these centers have hosted 26,372 visitors, trained 33,751 persons, and conducted 332 courses/training programs. The Ministry confirmed there are no current proposals to increase the number of Common Engineering Facility Centres under this scheme's Phase II.
