The Ministry of Labour & Employment, in collaboration with FICCI and Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co., organized a district-level capacity building and awareness programme on Labour Codes at Okhla Industrial Estate, New Delhi. The event, part of the Shram Samvad initiative, aimed to build awareness among employers and industry stakeholders about the Labour Codes that came into force on 21st November 2025 and the Central Rules notified on 8th May 2026. The programme attracted over 100 participants from diverse sectors including employers, industry representatives, HR professionals, legal experts, finance specialists, and other key stakeholders in the labour and employment ecosystem.
The programme featured multiple technical sessions providing practical insights into the Labour Codes, employer obligations, and key social security initiatives. Dr P K Jena, Director of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, delivered the inaugural address along with Ms Pallavi Shroff, Executive Committee Member and Managing Partner of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co., with Ms Pooja Ramchandani moderating the session.
Dr Jena presented a comprehensive overview of the Labour Codes, their objectives, and the major reforms introduced through the new legislative framework, helping participants understand the broader vision and significance of labour law reforms. Mohd. Nadeem, Labour Enforcement Officer from the Ministry's PMU, conducted a session on key compliance requirements for employers, providing practical guidance on statutory obligations and compliance responsibilities under the new framework.
The programme also covered two significant social security schemes. Shri Manish Kumar Singh, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner-I from EPFO, led a session on Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY), briefing participants on the scheme's objectives, eligibility conditions, and employment generation benefits. Shri Sandeep Chourasia, Welfare Administrator from DGLW, Ministry of Labour & Employment, conducted a session on Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) Scheme, highlighting its key features and role in extending pension and social security benefits to unorganised sector workers.
The event concluded with an interactive Question and Answer session where participants engaged directly with speakers to seek clarifications on various aspects of the Labour Codes, employer compliances, and social security schemes. The programme served as an important platform for capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and awareness generation, fostering deeper understanding of the Labour Codes and supporting their effective implementation through informed participation by employers and industry stakeholders.
