Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India, is organizing an Outreach Workshop on the Atmanirbhar Panchayat Programme on 9 June 2026 at Gandhinagar, Gujarat
Workshop will be held in hybrid mode - eligible Panchayats around Gandhinagar participate in person, others join via video conferencing
Participants include: Shri Vivek Bharadwaj (Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj), Smt. Mukta Shekhar (Joint Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj), Shri Dhananjay Dwivedi (Principal Secretary, Panchayat, Rural Housing and Rural Development Department, Government of Gujarat), Dr. Gaurav Dahiya (Additional Development Commissioner, Government of Gujarat)
Representatives from Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) will participate
Programme includes address on vision of Atmanirbhar Panchayat Programme, detailed presentation on national policy objectives, technical roadmap and expected outcomes
Live end-to-end demonstration of Atmanirbhar Panchayat Portal will be conducted
Interactive Question and Answer session included
Atmanirbhar Panchayat Programme is designed to promote financial self-reliance of Panchayats through transparent national challenge process
Panchayats invited to submit ideas for revenue-generating projects that utilize idle assets and untapped local opportunities
Selected ideas receive technical assistance to develop into feasible, bankable projects
Funding support drawn from Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions, bank finance and convergence with other government schemes
Gram Panchayats require minimum Own Source Revenue (OSR) of Rs.50 lakh to participate
Block Panchayats require minimum Own Source Revenue (OSR) of Rs.1 crore to participate
Both must have at least three years of tenure remaining to be eligible
Ministry has partnered with NABARD and HUDCO to provide institutional expertise in rural project development
NABARD and HUDCO will facilitate financial support to qualifying Panchayats
Programme is implemented under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA)
Community ownership ensured through mandatory participation of the Gram Sabha at every stage of planning
