The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment published a success story highlighting the impact of the National Overseas Scholarship (NOS) Scheme through the journey of Mr. Aarav Kumar, a 28-year-old pursuing his Ph.D. in Electronic and Electrical Engineering abroad. The scheme, administered by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, provides financial assistance to reduce barriers for talented students from Scheduled Caste communities seeking international higher education.

The scholarship covers tuition fees, maintenance and living expenses, travel costs, and other eligible academic expenditures according to approved scheme provisions. In Mr. Aarav's case, the assistance was sanctioned on 1 October 2024, enabling him to pursue doctoral studies with greater financial confidence and focus. The support has allowed him to access advanced research facilities, international academic practices, and emerging developments in his field while easing the burden of educational expenses.

The case study demonstrates how institutional support through the NOS Scheme helps scholars from marginalized communities participate in the global knowledge and research ecosystem. The program aims to create opportunities for advanced research exposure and professional development, with beneficiaries expected to contribute meaningful research to their fields and bring recognition to India through academic achievements.
